Services at the CAP Cornelius Wellness Clinic are currently by appointment only. Staff will discuss your pets' needs over the phone or email before your appointment. 17555 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77094 - Look for The Cornelius Clinic building southwest of the main shelter building. We do ask that you do not walk your dog in the park area as the shelter animals are walked in that area each morning and afternoon.

Clinic Policies
PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THE CLINIC IF YOUR PET IS SICK OR INJURED.
The CAP Vaccination Clinic does not provide treatment for sick, heartworm positive, or injured animals. Please see a full-service veterinary clinic for these issues.
To purchase heartworm medication, dogs must have been seen by our vet within the last year and be heartworm tested either:
- at 6 months of age if not on prevention
- at annual visit during 2nd rabies vaccination if on prevention since 2 months of age
- at the annual visit as an adult
Late Arrival/No Show Policy: If you are more than 10 minutes late, we'll do our best to work you in, but there may be a wait; if we're unable to accomodate, we'll gladly reschedule your appointment.
Services
Your pet will receive a basic examination by the veterinarian which includes an examination of the skin, eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, temperature, and overall body. If minor health issues are detected, such as fleas or parasites, the veterinarian can suggest medication for treatment. If the issues are more serious, you will be instructed to take your pet to a veterinarian. In addition to vaccinations, the Wellness Clinic offers:
- Heartworm test for dogs 6 months and older
- HomeAgain Microchip, register through 24Petwatch network
- Nail Trimming
- Preventative Heartworm/Flea & Tick Medication

Vaccination Laws
State law requires all cats and dogs to receive a rabies vaccination by age 4 months. If your pet has a current rabies vaccination, you must show proof with a valid rabies certificate. Unvaccinated animals 3 months and over will receive a rabies vaccination at the owners expense.
In addition, Houston has made a mandatory micro-chipping ordinance for all cats and dogs. The grace period ended on February 1, 2023
