I am black with a bit of white on my chest Terrier mix. I am 1.5 years old and weigh almost 30 lbs. I have many good reasons for you to take me home with you. I’m already housetrained, and I’ve been spayed. I like lots of attention so I want to be your only dog. Coden is the master of the unexpected and an inspiration to us all!  Months ago, an unassuming fluffy boy was found wandering the streets, obviously in need of TLC.  He ended up at just the right place...CAP.  With a small wound under his eye and his eyelashes curling inward (entropia), Coden the handsome two-year old Chow/Shepard mix was having a hard time viewing the world around him.  Thanks to our Veterinary Liaison Janet Huey and a wonderful vet donor, Coden was able to have the surgical procedure needed to correct his eyelashes and give him a new look on life.  That same vet also performed a procedure to remove a bullet the vet discovered lodged beneath one of Coden's eyes.  Coden has made a full recovery and would like to send a huge 'Thank you!" to the vet who helped him, the liaison who made it possible, and the staff members who diligently cared for him afterwards.  And now Coden would like to find his new loving "fur"-ever home. Coden is a sweetheart of a dog who loves everyone he meets and can also appreciate a good brushing to keep his coat looking handsome.  Coden is a special, loving boy who wants to be the only apple of his adopter's eye, and needs to be the only pet in the household.  If you would like to meet Coden, call 281-497-0591.  #10287678

Punkin 10944450

Hi, I'm called Punkin...12 pounds of adorable and cuddly little boy poodle. The vet thinks I am about nine years old, but if you know poodles you know that means I still have about half of my life left to live. I've had it rough so far; I was found as a stray, very thin and matted, with some missing teeth and a bad limp in my back left leg. The vet thinks I was probably hit by a car. The top of my femur (leg bone) was shattered at the hip socket, but since I apparently didn't get any medical attention then, it healed itself with scar tissue. It doesn't seem to cause me a lot of pain, but I will have a permanent limp, and as I get older I may need some anti-inflammatory or pain medications, or possibly even surgery, if it starts to bother me more.   -   -   Even with all of that, I am an adorable little guy who just wants a lap to sit on and lots of love from someone. My perfect home would be with someone who is home a lot and can help make up for all the attention I've missed so far in my life. I seem to like everybody, and I bond pretty quickly. I don't mind other dogs, but I would also be fine as an only pet. Because I am a little fragile, I would do best in a quieter home with no small children who might accidentally hurt me.  -   - I am healthy except for the limp and the missing teeth, and my only requirements are that I eat soft food. I go right to my crate at night. So far, in my foster home, I only bark when I want to get to my foster mom and I can't. I've been neutered and had my teeth cleaned and examined. Dante is a 1 1/2 year old Whippet/ terrier mix who came to CAP with a broken radius and ulna. He is now healed and ready for an experienced home. He needs a  strong buddy dog but is food aggressive, so needs to eat separately, even  treats.He weighs between 25-30 lbs. For more information email his foster, he  only goes to the shelter by appointment.

Happy 7188337

Happy is a 7 1/2 year old, male,  neutered chihuahua.  He weighs 6 pounds.  He was turned in by his owner, because they got a new puppy,  and he did  not like the new dog.  He had heartworms, and has now been treated for that, but a grade three heart murmur has lingered.  This may, or may not, get better as time goes on. He is not on any  meds for it at this time.  Happy has only been around females  his whole life, and is terrified of men, and children.  He is  looking for an experienced, ALL adult home, with only females.  He is  very sweet and loving, once he bonds with you, and can be very  playful.  He would be okay as an only dog, or with another chihuahua that will not intimidate him. He is  house-trained. For questions please email Rebecca.

Miles is a Tan and Black Male Chihuahua mix that is 11 months old weighing 6 1/2 pounds.  He gets along with other dogs but like a Chihuahua, he wants to be the boss.  He has been exposed to cats but overwhelms them so he would be best in a house with no cats.  Miles is crate trained and working on house training.  He does pretty well walking with a leash. Valentine is a tiny little spayed, female chihuahua/ terrier  mix.  She is around 3 years old, and weighs almost 6 pounds.  She was very sick, due to neglect when she came into  the shelter, but is doing just fine now.  She gets along fine  with other tiny dogs, but is too fragile for  larger animals.  She is super sweet, and likes to give you kisses.  Valentine LOVES to run, and will take off very fast around the yard when she goes out to potty, so she  needs a home with a yard.  She would probably not be happy with  an apartment situation.  She is looking for an experienced, ADULT home.   For questions, please email her foster parent Rebecca.

Koky is a male, Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix, and is a little over 1 1/2 years old.   He weighs about 16 pounds.    He bonds VERY closely with his humans, and can be a little obsessive... .following you all over the house.    He is also a lap dog.    He gets along okay with other small dogs, but is very fearful of larger dogs.   He would be fine as an only dog.   Koky has a bit of a nervous type of personality, so would do best with older, mature kids and adults.... would NOT be good around young children.    Although he is still young, he is not overly active.  Due to his breed, he does need regular grooming. You must be willing and able to afford having him groomed every 4 to 6 weeks. Munchkin is a neutered, male Yorkie/Poodle mix.   He is 6 1/2  years old, and weighs 6 pounds.   He is looking for an  experienced, calm,   ALL ADULT home with preferably a single  female.    He bonds very closely with one person, but does not  like strangers.  He is tolerant of other small dogs, but would prefer  to be the only dog in the home.  He thinks that he deserves all  of the attention!  For questsions or to meet him please email Rebecca.

Mercedes is a spayed, female Standard Poodle.  She is 1 1/2 years old, and weighs about forty pounds.  She is an energetic dog, and has never been socialized properly.    She is looking for a home that has the time and patience, to take her for obedience training.   She will NOT be good with cats, or small dogs.  Mercedes will need an experienced, all adult home.  She may be okay with another large dog, but would have to meet with her new playmate first, to make sure they get along.   She is very smart, and is already crate-trained.  To meet her for for questions please email Rebecca.
